The Second Sunday After Pentecost

June 22, 2025

Sermon

Deliver us from evil.

It tells us a great deal that Jesus destroys neither the demons nor the man who was posessed

by them. No doubt, He had the power to do it. With the flick of His wrist, He could have rid

the world of one more evil man. But Jesus has not just come to clean house; He has come to

rescue the lost, not to destroy them. When the townspeople come by, they find the posessed

man sitting at Jesus’ feet, restored. Even as Jesus delivered this man from the grip of the Evil

One, so He promises to do for us when we pray.
