2nd Sunday in Lent

John 3:1-17

New birth happens here

Jesus reveals a profound mystery to Nicodemus: “unless one is born

from above he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus

understands Jesus to be saying that he should be born again, because

he asks how a man can be born a second time. But Jesus reveals that

he's talking about being born of water and the Spirit, that is, to be born from above. And

that's the only way we can enter into God's Kingdom. We need to start all over and be

born, not like Nicodemus thought, returning to our mother's womb, but to be born of God.
